Paper Arms

Flying a hardcore veteran from New York to Adelaide to produce a debut album seems like a big move. But that’s exactly what Paper Arms did.

Impressed by their brand of impassioned punk rock, Gorilla Biscuits/Rivals Schools guitarist, Walter Schreifels, crossed the Pacific Ocean to mentor them through the recording of their 2010 full length, ‘Days Above Ground’. The 10 track album showed evidence of a band who’s members have dedicated nearly half their lives to writing, playing and touring the music that they love.

It’s this kind of dedication that the four members of Paper Arms pour into their writing. Crafting every song with a drive to create heartfelt music that will stand the test of time.

On its release, ‘Days Above Ground’ received widespread acclaim and quickly became a turning point in the band’s career. What followed was a string of tours with the likes of Strike Anywhere, Bridge & Tunnel, Leatherface and Samiam. Not to mention playing alongside bands like Hot Water Music, Against Me!, The Get Up Kids, Bouncing Souls, No Use For A Name, La Dispute and many more. The band was also added to the line up of high profile Australian festivals like Soundwave and the Big Day Out.

In July 2012 Paper Arms entered the studio to record their sophomore album. Armed with the lessons they learned from Schreifels, as well as the foundation of the past four years together, the new tracks bare the earmarks of a band at the height of it’s career, and ready for more. The album was mixed by Brian McTernan, (the man responsible for classic records from the likes of Hot Water Music, Thrice, Polar Bear Club and Texas Is The Reason - to name a few) and Paper Arms have never sounded better.

2013 will kick off with a national headline tour through Feb, The Hits & Pits festival through March and a European tour through June.

Members:

"Its raw, fierce, brutally honest and insightful stuff... Quite simply, if you’re a fan of the classic emotive punk rock sound, this is the shit that doesn’t go out of style. No gimmicks, no bullshit, just 10 quality tracks delivered with unencumbered emotion and passion."  - Electric Cake.

"If you grew up listening to bands such as Small Brown Bike, Jawbreaker and Rival Schools then this album will take your stereo hostage... Days Above Ground is a slab of energetic, anthemic, chorus driven punk rock. Enough to keep you satisfied for days on end... they are becoming one of Australia's most exciting punk rock bands in the scene today." -  Kill Your Stereo.

"This Adelaide band’s debut album is an incredibly musically mature record that has the ability to become very big if they seek that goal."  -  Music Vice.

"An incredibly impressive debut from this Australian band. They sound like a mix of the very best Small Brown Bike with Fugazi... yeah, that's right."  -  Feed Fury.
