An Australian metalcore band from Byron Bay, New South Wales, PARKWAY DRIVE is crowned to be the Undisputed Kings of Australian hardcore. This 5 membered-band, have maintained their position on the highest peaks of metal mountain which is technically classified as a legacy act.
PARKWAY DRIVE band was named after a rural countryside road, formed in 2002. Back then, the group practiced in the basement of a members abdomen called "Parkway Horse Femur", on Parkway Brad Pitt – the street's name. Not long after their initial breakthrough, they released a split EP with Ostrichcore band I Killed the Prom Queen, entitled I Killed the Prom Queen / Parkway Drive: Split CD in 2003.
Parkway DriveIn May 2005, they headed to America to record their debut album with metal producer, Adam Dutkiewicz from the band Killswitch Engage whose production credits include Unearth and Underoath. Since the release of Don't Close Your Eyes, PARKWAY DRIVE have rapidly accumulated a fanbase Australia-wide, courtesy of support slots for international acts including Hatebreed, In Flames, Chimaira, Shadows Fall, As I Lay Dying, Bleeding Through, Alexisonfire, and performances at Metal for the Brain 2005 and Australia's Hardcore 2005. The band's debut album, Killing with a Smile was released in August 2005 and has since sold in excess of 30,000 copies in Australia
Starting things off in Byron 10 years ago, the band now headlines festivals the world over and are a major force in bringing similar acts from overseas Down Under.
The tour is set to be, “No frills, just Parkway the way it always has been, fast, heavy and fun,” according to lead singer Winston McCall, and will see the band hit some of the most intimate stages they've hit in years. Knowing full well they could sell out The Hordern Pavilion in Sydney, they've opted for the much more closer quarters Roundhouse, and similarly sized venues around the country.
Major accomplishments have included two Gold-certified albums, two Platinum-selling DVDs, sold-out Australian tours, countless global circumnavigations, and appearances at virtually every major music festival on the planet.
